Wenger Says: “Now We Don’t Have a Choice, I’ll Say This…”
10
Ahem! I’m in a bit of a rush today so only 3 pieces of journalistic art caught my attention. Uncle Wenger has bestowed the Arsenal Knighthood on OG (Oliver Giroud) saying:
“I bought him because he’s a real centre forward and he is an intelligent player…I feel he has qualities that are needed in our squad…”
I remember this same encouragement and praise was heaped on RVP when the going was rosy and sunny. RVP seemed so passionate about Arsenal, about the team, about the fans, about us…or was he? It hurts me when I see pictures like this, I feel Wenger and us were betrayed and lied to by RVP…
Just look at the pure emotion on Uncle Wenger’s face.

Come hug your daddy my sweet, sweet boy!
Or was RVP just in the moment?
We’ll never know. All I ask Wenger to do now is sell RVP and use the revenue to strengthen our back-end because that’s our Achilles heel; that’s where we’re weakest.

Which brings me to the next piece of news…
MANCHESTER UNITED AND THEIR INTEREST IN ROBIN
Although I’m an advocate for the sale of RVP while we can still get something substantial for him, I have my reservations as to who the buyer should be. You see, Cameron and the rest of ’Ol England would be all right with it if we sold some nuclear science technology to hmm…,let’s say Trinidad and Tobago, no harm helping a developing country along aye? But err…would it be all right if we sold to Bin Laden? That’s like shooting ourselves in the foot. And, that’s exactly what we’ll be doing if we sell RVP to Man-U.
Can I stand RVP in a Man-U shirt? Never!
Oh, and by the way, all this talk about Wenger wanting to keep RVP, I think it’s best we let him go or else we’ll lose at both ends. Having an unsettled/unhappy player will give you little or no results on the pitch, and then you get to lose him on a free? C’mon!

THE POLITICALLY RANDOM THOUGHTS OF LUIZ SUAREZ
Personally, I think the dude wanted a piece of the action. I’m sure he figured that since everyone else seemed to be in the news, he could as well find elbow room or force his way in. I had this scene in my head about what must have given rise to his theory:
Luiz is lazily watching BBC Sports on his 65 inch Sony Smart screen TV…
Luiz: (Thinking) Hmm…Everyone seems to be in the news these days. Rooney’s been said to understand only Scottish. Terry’s leaving the headlines bloody, RVP’s leaving Arsenal fans livid; A.Cole, The Ferdinand boys, Forlan even lil’ Andy are all splattering the pages of newspapers…I need to do something about this!
Maybe I should tell Brendan that I will leave Liverpool if they don’t pay me £300,000 a week after tax on income, petrol, water, electricity, decorating and clothing…. or, I could smash my Ferrari into Harrods and maybe claim I was actually sold one without brakes…Naaaah
Aha! I could bring up that thing between me and Evra again and claim that Manchester United connived with the political powers that be to render my services to Liverpool useless. I figure I can say that I was framed and suspended so that I wouldn’t help Liverpool win the Championship and qualify for the UEFA Champions League… That would prove interesting! Now, what was it that happened between me and Evra again…![]()

Well I think it’s true that Man Utd have political power. They have the media on their side. It’s clear as anything. Following the game in which Jonny Evans kicked Drogba in the ribs, with clear intent, and the referee doing nothing, the several of the United players and staff audaciously came out and said “we’re losing faith in referees”, because they lost based on a freekick which was at most a little harsh (I thought it was fine, personally). And the media response was simply to report their words, without question. This is fairly typical and had this been Arsenal or many other sides in the division, this obvious media campaign wouldn’t have got going.
Then there was the incredible period last season when Kompany was sent off and banned for several games for intercepting a pass in a clumsy-looking manner. He didn’t even tackle Nani because the ball hadn’t even reached Nani – and the media was actually split between whether ‘it was a dangerous challenge and the ban is correct’ and ‘it wasn’t dangerous at all’!
So while Suarez is probably using this for his own benefit, ironically in a political manner, he does have a point.
Well analysed Davi, looking at your points now, I do agree with you that Man-U has some clout. However, I’m wondering why Suarez chose to speak at this moment though and not earlier, plus, he makes it seem like his ban caused Liverpool a chance at the title or something…thinking of his ability more highly than he ought was what got on my nerves.
Suarez has a point. See how long Terry’s case lasted and was finally set free. If he were a non Briton, his case would be sorted out with dispatch. RVP should either be sold to clubs outside England or be made to rot on the bench or in the reserves. By this he would lose one year lucrative wage, his form will dip and he would be less marketable and whose knows he may pick up a nasty injury that will end his career because no club would be ready to assist knowing fully that he is an ingrate. He should be taught a lesson as a deterrent to other would be ingrates.
Looool!@ your RVP curse! BTW about J.T’s case if he were non-Brit…err well, I dunno. I totally agree on your idea that RVP should be sold outside England my choice areas being Qatar, Iran,China’s second division league or Siberia (that is, if they’ve got a football league).
Good article. I however do not buy this idea of selling Rvp in order not to lose him for free. 1) If Rvp has to honor his contract for the remaining season, he will be on 70,000 bucks per week instead of 140,000 that he may be earning if he signs a new contract. 2) arsenal will not need to pay a sign on fee of 5,000,000. 3) 1&2 above is just slightly below 8 million bucks. 4) if we sell, a replacement will cost us at least 15million. 5) By selling, we will be improving our rivals and also ridiculing our fans.6) Rvp cannot afford not to perform because he will be judged by his next suitors by his performance especially at the magical age of 30. The most pragmatic thing to do is to keep Van persie’s and add more players and arsenal will win trophies and resign Rvp.
Victor, that’s a wonderful analysis you’ve got there and to be honest, I never really thought of it that way. However, I believe if we can close up the Niang deal we’ll have a reasonable amount of fire power considering the fact that we’ve got a few MD’s and DF’s that can score. Plus, I’d sell Chamakh and Arsh. rumour has it that there are offers, we’ll have more than enough in addition to RVP’s sale and we’ll strengthen the area that needs the most strengthening – our defence.
Extremely well thought out, it makes a change……………. I would also add that RVP almost single handedly got us into this years champions league and made us 30m in the process.
If we sell him now we won’t get much more than 15/20m and will be a worse team. I’d rather keep him and hope he earns us 30m next year by us qualifying for CL again, then let him leave for nothing if that’s what he wants
Hmm… I’m getting inputs from smart analytic people. El, yes, again I never thought of it from the angle that he actually made us money… very sound point you made. Let’s hope he’ll do a repeat of last season with the extra input from OG and LP.
Hello there! This post couldn’t be written any better! Reading this post reminds me of my previous room mate! He always kept talking about this. I will forward this article to him. Fairly certain he will have a good read. Many thanks for sharing!
