Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has declared that speculation linking Alexis Sanchez to French giants PSG are nothing but ‘media imagination.’
Speaking after his side’s disappointing 0-3 loss to Chelsea in China today Wenger again reiterated his desire to keep hold of the Gunners’ top talent going into the new Premier League season. The Chilean contributed 30 goals and 13 assists for the Gunners last term and Wenger seems determined to keep hold of him.
When asked if the speculation linking his number 7 to PSG was true the Frenchman said it was ‘Only media imagination.’
When asked if PSG had any advantage in any potential transfer due to the Gunner’s hesitance to sell to a Premier League rival Wenger responded with a simple ‘no’.
Arsenal fans are growing unhappy with the 28-year old’s lack of commitment and the idea of Alexis joining an overseas side rather than Manchester City on a free is a more appealing one to some.
It is not yet clear whether Arsene Wenger has completed his business for the summer, earlier links to AS Monaco’s Lemar seem to have cooled and it is believed that any future incomings will largely depend on the situation of players such as Sanchez and fellow contract rebel Oxlade-Chamberlain.
After today’s convincing loss, Wenger has a lot of work to do to prepare his side for their charity shield match up with Chelsea on the 6th of August.
