There has been a lot of gossip recently concerning Theo Walcott’s current contract situation and quite frankly, I think we can all agree it needs to be sorted soon.

Today he showed his worth to the club, for the majority of the match he was our most lively player, working very hard for the team and sealing it with a goal. It is clear he is working overtime to prove himself as a central striker. I think the reluctance shown by Wenger to play him through the middle is not down to his ability, but in fact the successful partnership he is currently forming with new arrival Olivier Giroud. Wenger may also find it hard dropping a player he showed so much faith in by bringing him in from Montpellier earlier this year.

The Sun this morning reported a deal was to be done with Liverpool of Walcott + £8M in exchange for young talent Raheem Sterling. In my opinion, this would be a bad move from Arsenal, yes Sterling shows great potential for the future, but at the moment has nothing more than raw talent. On the other hand, Walcott has been developing with us over many years and after a lifetime of inconcistency he seems to be coming good. His limited performances this season have been very convincing and I believe he is a better asset to the club than Sterling would be, at least for a good few years!

Would you take the aforementioned deal and ship out Walcott, or snap up a lively Sterling at a very young age?
