Spanish football journalist Kike Marin has suggested that Arsenal are close to securing a deal for Porto striker Jackson Martinez.
Martinez, who looks likely to depart FC Porto this summer, has long been linked with a whole host of top European clubs and it is strongly rumoured that Arsene Wenger is a big admirer of his work. Marin, who has a reasonable track record with transfers, has suggested that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has finally made his mind up and is looking to finalise a deal.

Obviously this tweet is far from conclusive however it suggests that Arsene Wenger is aware of the fact he needs to strengthen up front if his Arsenal side is to mount a serious title challenge next season. Only last week the Arsenal boss acknowledged the need for extra support to help current Arsenal number one striker Olivier Giroud who currently shoulders the majority of the goalscoring load for the Gunners.
It is assumed that Martinez would settle fairly easily into English football due to his impressive proficiency at European level, the 28 year old is also close friends with David Ospina, current Arsenal number one goalkeeper and Columbia teammate.
This news would certainly go down well with the Arsenal faithful should it turn out to be true as the Gunners have been crying out for a mobile goalscorer for some time now. With the FA Cup final on the horizon, the Gunners will be hoping for a strong finish to the season and an effective summer in the transfer market in preparation for next season.
