It is good to see the club going back to the traditional blue and yellow for the away kit as although it was a nice change, the crazy stripy purple idea wasn’t all that ‘Arsenal’. Nike get a lot of flack for our kits but this time they have genuinely saved the best til last and given us a great kit that i’m sure most fans are delighted with, one thing i’m not so sure about is the socks but i’ll let you make your own mind up on those!
The new kit is available for pre order via Arsenal Direct and the prices stack up as follows:
Adult 2013/2014 Away shirt (SS/LS) £50-£55
Junior 2013/2014 Away shirt (SS/LS) £40-£45
Adult 2013/2014 Away shorts £22
Junior 2013/2014 Away shorts £18
Will I be buying it? Afraid not, i’m sorry but as I have touched on before, I could simply not bring myself to spend such a ludicrous amount The kit looks and feels great. Arsenal is synonymous with yellow and blue and I think this new design fuses that tradition with a modern twist. I can’t wait to get out on the pitch and wear it! – Theo Walcott of money on a shirt and with a £50 price tag it is quite literally daylight robbery. In my opinion the club should make shirt’s as accesible as possible to fans and inflating the shirt prices by such a considerable margin will certainly put a lot of people off.
The players had a few words to say regarding the launch of the new kit with Theo weighing in with his thoughts on the new design.
I was surprised that the Dennis statue was not unveiled at the same time as I had heard whispers that it was to be the case, but I assume it will be presented in due course. I also know that there were a lot of hopeful Arsenal fans out there praying for Higuain to parachute in or something of that description, all I will say is that we are just over a week into the transfer window and although we haven’t made any marquee signings yet, the best is surely still to come! Let me know what you think of the new kit and your views on the launch event as a whole.
P.S. for any who are interested or did not already know, new boy Yaya Sanogo has been assigned the number 22 shirt which belonged to the Coq and Diaby has changed his number from 2 to 24.
