Man City reportedly reach agreement with Bacary Sagna
1According to ‘Le10Sport’ Bacary Sagna has reached an agreement to join the eastlands club at the end of the season after turning down numerous offers from Arsenal in an attempt to see out his contract and end his career at another club.
Sagna who has been a stalwart in the Arsenal side since his arrival from Auxerre in 2007 was reportedly unhappy with the terms offered to him by Arsenal officials, with the length of contract offered and pay packet cited as the main reasons behind his refusal to commit beyond the summer. The future of the France right back has been in doubt for some time now but it seems what has been titled the ‘Sagna saga’ is finally reaching a conclusion if Le10Sport are to be believed.
The nitty gritty conditions are not yet in place but it appears a deal is in place in principle that will take the experienced French full back and his talents north of the capital after the world cup. It is no doubt a disappointment that another of the club’s top players will be leaving this summer but Arsenal fans will hope that Arsene Wenger can move quickly to adequately replace him this summer with Ivorian youngster Serge Aurier reportedly agreeing a deal this week.
There will undoubtably be mixed feelings amongst the Arsenal support, the Frenchman has given us 7 fantastic years of service although it is still painful to see yet another top player leaving for middle eastlands.
What do you think? Does Sagna deserve the respect and thanks of Arsenal fans for his hard work and commitment over the last 7 years or could he have avoided joining a direct rival?
