Comments emerging from Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud’s Agent have added fuel to the fire regarding speculation that the Gunners could be lining up a sensational swap move for Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain.
Giroud, who enjoyed a fairly productive Euro campaign, has been at the centre of much speculation due to Arsenal’s desperate need for top quality striking talent to either complement or replace him. Reports emerged earlier this week suggesting that the Gunners would look to offload him in a player plus cash deal with Napoli for Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain. At first these claims appeared to have very little substance, however, Giroud’s agent has gone on record suggesting that his client would fit in very well with the Serie A side.
“As of today, Giroud is an Arsenal forward. If they were to ask him to leave, then we’d evaluate the situation.”
“There would be no fear for Olivier to go to Napoli, as we’re talking about a magnificent place.”
Giroud’s agent, Mickael Manuello, also suggested that a new home would see the best brought out of his client,
“In Naples, my client could have a wonderful lifestyle, not to mention that Maurizio Sarri’s style of football would get the best out of a striker like him.”
After swinging and missing on Leicester’s Jamie Vardy landing Higuain would represent a significant coup for Arsene Wenger who is desperate to add some goalscoring prowess to his front line, with 71 goals in 94 appearances for the 28-year-old, Higuain would certainly provide that.
