Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria has highlighted the threat of fellow South American Alexis Sanchez ahead of his sides meeting with Arsenal at Old Trafford on Monday.
Di Maria, who joined United for some £60m+ in the summer, has been speaking to the United website about the threat posed by the mercurial Chilean and how his United side must be wary of the significant damage he is capable of doing. Speaking to the United site he said the following,
“Sanchez is a player who has been in some great form this season and since he came to Arsenal he hasn’t stopped scoring or creating goals.”
“He’s been tremendous and seems to be the key player for Arsenal. When he plays well, they seem to play well too.”
Di Maria also highlighted one of Sanchez’s key strengths, dribbling with the ball,
“We’ve seen him in various games. If he gets hold of the ball and does what he can with it, then that works well for Arsenal.
He also mentioned how it will be key for Manchester United to try and stifle the 26 year old and prevent him from running the show as we know he can,
“We have to keep a close eye on him and try to prevent him from creating openings with his passing as we know that every time he gets to run at you he can create danger.”
It will be interesting to see if Di Maria’s side will be able to shackle Sanchez who has scored 18 goal in all competitions this season, most recently breaking his scoring drought of over 400 minutes against QPR during the midweek fixtures. Arsene Wenger will be hoping his star player will be firing on all cylinders as The Gunners attempt to secure a passage into the semi final on the quest to retain the FA Cup.
