Arsenal have completed the signing of OG Nice Goalkeeper David Ospina on a long term deal for an undisclosed fee believed to be around £4m. The Colombian impressed by helping his country reach the quarter finals of the World Cup in Brazil before bowing out to the host nation.
The 25 year old has 49 international caps to his name as well as 177 appearances in Ligue 1 for Nice and is expected to challenge current club number 1 Wojciech Szczesny for a starting role and it is clear that Gunners manager Arsene Wenger rates the Columbian.
David Ospina is an excellent goalkeeper, with good experience and a proven record of performing with Nice and Colombia. He will add strength to our squad and we are very pleased that he will be joining us.
It was clear from the start of the summer than another Goalkeeper was required thanks to the departure of Lukas Fabianski, and it is sure to please Arsenal fans that the Pole has been replaced with an able international goalkeeper who has a long term future at the club.
Ospina is expected to make his debut for the club during the annual Emirates Cup competition which takes place next weekend.
