According to a number of news outlets the race to sign Alexandre Lacazette is hotting up, reports suggest that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could potentially be weighing up a move for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette. The French wonder kid scored an impressive 23 goals in 46 games in all competitions last season as well as 17 goals in 19 appearances this year and has really progressed as a player of late.
The 23 year old, who was left out of France’s World Cup squad, has been capped twice for France and has attracted attention from a lot of clubs over Europe, he was previously linked with Newcastle United as they looked to bolster their attacking options. However it has since become clear that Manchester City could have entered the race after L’equipe reported that the Manchester club sent scouts to watch the Frenchman in action. Arsene Wenger may look to steal him from the grasp of Manuel Peligrini and hope to mould the promising youngster into one of Europe’s most effective talents.
In April last year Lacazette spoke of his desire to move abroad to another major league and was aware of the possibility of Arsenal interest.
“I’m tempted to try and experience life abroad,”
“Are Arsenal and Liverpool interested? An experience in another major league fascinates me.”
Lacazette may not be the marquee signing most Arsenal fans are hoping for but he certainly looks an exciting prospect that has the talent to support the leading cast at Arsenal such as summer signing sensation Alexis Sanchez.
There is plenty of time left in the window but with reported interest from elsewhere Arsene Wenger may look to act quickly to fend off rival bids. The Lyon forward is also flexible across the front three meaning that he is perfectly capable of performing a wider role should injury strike the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
