According to Palermo club president Maurizio Zamparini, 21 year old stiking sensation Paulo Dybala has indicated that Arsenal would be his first choice should he depart the Serie A club this summer.
According to Zamparini the Gunners, along with Juventus, have already made a bid for the in form Argentine who has been tipped to be the next big thing to come out of the South American country that has produced the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain. Speaking to Radio Matre Sport Zamparini said,
“Juventus and Arsenal have already made offers for the boy. [Pierpaolo] Triulzi, his agent, will be in Italy on Friday.”
Zamparini then moved to clarify that the 21 year old would not be allowed to leave Palermo for less that €40 million in the summer,
“It hasn’t changed. Someone like Dybala cannot be worth less than €40 million. He would prefer to stay in Italy — he still wants to play in Serie A.”
The fact that Zamparini mentioned that he still wants to play in Serie A suggests that the youngster might favour a move to the Old Lady however, it then became clear that Arsene Wenger’s style of play is the reason that Dybala would favour a move to the Gunners.
“Of the English clubs that have shown interest, though, Arsenal is his first choice because of the way [Arsene] Wenger makes his team play.”
The fact that this link seems to have some substance will be exciting news for Arsenal fans because despite the Frenchman’s recent scoring outburst, many believe that Olivier Giroud is not of the required quality to lead the Arsenal line, especially on the European stage. Adding a dynamic and clinical scorer like Dybala could give Arsenal the tools they need to challenge for the Premier League title next season and hopefully progress beyond the last 16 in the Champions League for the first time in 5 years.
It will be interesting to see how this story develops, be sure to stay tuned for more information.
